MAGLEV TRAIN

Image
The front corners have magnets with north poles facing out, and the back corners have magnets with south poles outward.  Electrifying the propulsion loops generates magnetic fields that both pull the train forward from the front and push it forward from behind . This floating magnet design creates a smooth trip. A maglev system comprises five major components, namely  levitation, guidance, input power transfer, propulsion and control systems , as shown in Fig. 3. Levitation force provides the upward lift to the vehicle, whereas propulsion force is responsible for propelling the vehicle forward In a maglev system,  the train is not only held up by magnets but also pulled forward by these magnets . Air friction will gradually slow the train down if the changing electromagnets aren't timed to pull it forward . The engine for maglev trains is rather inconspicuous. Instead of using  fossil fuels , the magnetic field created by the electrified coils in the gui...

Mini Motors

Image
A battery-powered medical device handled by a doctor during an operation demands efficient power usage Lead screw example Ball screw example Motor and lead screw example optimizing compact linear motion applications with mini motors To achieve maximum performance from a miniature linear motion application, it’s vital to make sure the motor’s specification meets the requirements. Efficiency, high power, optimised dimensions and acceleration are among the criteria for selection to optimise demanding lead screw applications. Requirements for linear motion, miniature applications range from filling syringes through to medical devices, or robotic applications used in the operating theatre. The first consideration for a design engineer is the method used to transfer the rotary motion of a miniature motor into linear motion. The most common way of achieving this is by mounting a screw and nut system on the motor shaft. It operates on rolling contact between the nut and a screw, which can prov...

Basic Technical Information of Different Battery Types for Electric Vehicles

Image
Basic Technical Information of   Different Battery Types for Electric Vehicles       Battery powered Electric Vehicles are starting to play a significant role in today's automotive industry. There are many types of batteries found in the construction of today's Electric Vehicles, being hard to decide which one fulfils best all the most important characteristics, from different viewpoints, such as energy storage efficiency, constructive characteristics, cost price, and safety and utilization life. This study presents the autonomy of an Electric Vehicle that utilizes four different types of batteries: Lithium Ion (Li-Ion), Molten Salt (Na-NiCl2), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Lithium Sulphur (Li-S), all of them having the same electric energy storage capacity. The novelty of this scientific work is the implementation of four different types of batteries for Electric Vehicles on the same model to evaluate the vehicle's auto...

LED AND LCD DISPLAY

Image
Differences Between LCD and LED Differences between LCD and LED  are important to understand as they are both very co-related and it is possible to get confused between one and the other. LCD is the abbreviation for liquid crystal display while LED is the abbreviation for light-emitting diodes. They differ from one another in the fact that LCDs usually use fluorescent lights while lights use light-emitting diodes. The structure of both LCD and LED is quite the same as the technology behind these screens is the same. The differing television types have two different layers of polarized glass and through this glass, the liquid crystals get blocked as well as pass the light. Thus, this is one of the key differences and similarities between LCD and LED. LCD Vs LED The table given below lists the differences between LCD and LED. In short, knowing about LCD Vs LED will help to a greater extent. Difference between LCD and LED LCD LED LCD stands for liquid crystal display. LED stand...

On-line UPS

Image
Definition : On-line UPS abbreviated as OUPS is a type of UPS that uses a combination of rectifier and inverter circuits in order to provide continuous power to the load from the supply source without any interruption. From continuous power here we mean that power is supplied to the load in case of availability from the source and power outage as well with  zero  transfer time. On-line UPS is sometimes also known as  double-conversion  system. The reason for calling it so because, within an online UPS system, power conversion occurs twice as the circuit includes a rectifier and an inverter. ill go through a detailed idea of how an online ups system works. But before that let us have an introductory idea about- What is UPS? UPS is an acronym used for Uninterruptible Power Supply and serves as a central element of an accurately designed power protection system. Here the name itself is indicating that it is somewhat denoting a supply source that offers continuous...

SPIN LAUNCH

Image
Spin Launch  is an innovative new space  technology  company that has created an alternative method for putting 200-kilogram class satellites into low earth orbit. The technology  uses a vacuum-sealed centrifuge to spin a rocket and then hurl it to space at up to 4,660 mph (7,500 km/h; 2.08 km/s) . The rocket then ignites its engines at an altitude of roughly 200,000- ft (60 km) to reach orbital speed of 17,150 mph (27,600 km/h; 7.666 km/s) with a payload of up to 200kg. Spin Launch's ground-based, electric-powered mass accelerator allows it to reduce more than 70% of the fuel required to get into orbit . Unlike traditional fuel-based rockets, Spin Launch uses a ground-based, electric powered kinetic launch system that delivers a substantially less expensive and environmentally sustainable approach to space access. SENSOR AND ITS TYPES

Image
A sensor is  a device that detects and responds to some type of input from the physical environment . The input can be light, heat, motion, moisture, pressure or any number of other environmental phenomena. Different Types of  Sensors  · Temperature  Sensor  · A temperature sensor is  an electronic device that measures the temperature of its environment and converts the input data into electronic data to record, monitor, or signal temperature changes . T Proximity  Sensor   · A proximity sensor is a device that can  detect or sense the approach or presence of nearby objects  and for this it does not need physical contact.  Accelerometer · An accelerometer sensor is  a tool that measures the acceleration of any body or object in its instantaneous rest frame . It is not a coordinate acceleration. Accelerometer sensors are used in many ways, such as in many electronic devices, smartphones, and wearable devices, etc....

What is BLDC Motor? How Does It Saves Electricity

Image
A BLDC or brush-less DC motor is an  electronically  commuted DC motor which  does not have brushes.  This  is Upcoming technology which will be replacing  many for are old home appliances with  induction  motors due to the POWER SAVING  feature of this  technology. In the BLDC MOTOR , the electronic  controller provides calculated pulses of current to  the motor windings in order to control the speed  and torque of the motor. Using this speed control  technique we can operate the motor at required  output   speed,  thereby saving the power requirement. In this we see about BLDC motors working,                                                      types,  structure and making.  Advantages and disadvantage  of BLDC. Major      ...

'NET METERING' - All you need to know

Image
What is net metering and how does it work? Thanks to net metering, your solar panels can save you - and help you make - a lot of money. Net metering, also called net energy metering or NEM, is a utility rate program that requires your electric company to purchase the excess solar energy your solar panels produce at the full-retail rate of electricity.  This means when your solar energy system produces more electricity than your home needs, the excess electricity is sent to the power grid and your utility pays you for it.  Net metering is what makes rooftop solar panels such a great way to save money!  In fact, the best states for installing solar aren’t the ones that get the most sunshine - it’s the ones with the best net metering policies. Let’s take a closer look at how net metering can easily put money back in your pocket. How does net metering work? In short, net metering gives you credit for returning solar electricity to the grid, and it offsets electricity y...
